Our NICU Journey
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Walk for Babies fundraising page to benefit the NICU Akron Children’s Hospital.
On August 20th, 2017 Tobias was born two months early. With an expected arrival date of October 19th, we were not too prepared for his early arrival. Tobias was born weighing 4lbs, and was surprisingly fairly healthy for as early as he was. We did have to spend 5 weeks at Akron Children's NICU. The nurses and doctors were fabulous and made us feel at home. We greatly appreciate the care that Tobias got. Five days after returning home for the first time, we ended up back at Akron Children's and spent an additional 8 days there. Tobias had contracted a virus and become very sick. This second stay was far scarier than the first, but the support and care we received was fantastic. We love being able to support the NICU and participate in this walk. We would greatly appreciate any support you could provide us and the NICU. We welcome you as a member on our team or if you are able to donate we appreciate that as well!
In 2017, Walk for Babies hit a milestone of over $1 Million dollars raised since 2008. Without the support of community members like you, Akron Children’s Hospital would not be able to supply the needed assistance to patients and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Akron Children's Hospital's NICU treats 1,800 children annually and is nationally ranked according to U.S News & World Report.
Walk for Babies was created by one family and now has the support of over 1,700 participants, plus their friends and family. We thank you again for your support!
