Akron Children’s Hospital is very special to my Family because our son, Grayson, spent several weeks in their NICU/PICU as a newborn. After being diagnosed with congenital heart defects Grayson had open heart surgery at ACH when he was 7 days old. The surgery went smoothly and Grayson healed quickly. Unfortunately, shortly after being discharged, Grayson became septic and his body began to shut down. Once again we found ourselves in ACH PICU seeing the same faces who were so happy to let us go home a few days earlier now looking worried and telling us to prepare for the worst. The doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to save our son’s life, and because of them we now have a happy, HEALTHY four year old. We could never express how truly thankful we are for the hard work and compassion of every single doctor, surgeon, nurse, respiratory therapist, aid, and all staff and volunteers at Akron Children’s Hospital.
