2018 Akron Marathon Children's Champions

Thank you for visiting my Children's Champion page where I'm tracking my fundraising and training for the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon.
While Children's is ranked among the best children's hospitals in the country, it's their compassionate approach to treatment that makes them truly exceptional. Through a combination of revolutionary treatments and extraordinary patient experience, their care does more than heal. It brings the entire family together for the emotional support and understanding across multiple locations to reach families in the communities where they live.
I will forever be indebted to Akron Children's Hospital. My daughter Kayla was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when she was 12 years old. She had a couple serious complications that nearly took her away from us. The doctors, nurses, volunteers and all other staff at Children's were working together to find a treatment to get her better, and also to make sure the rest of the family was well-cared for. Kayla was released after a 7 week stay. She continued with treatments at Children's up until she graduated college. I'm happy to report she is a now 23 years old, a college graduate, living on her own and living life! None of that would have been possible without Akron Children's Hospital.
Running 26.2 miles and raising money so other patients can get the same care and compassion we received is the least I can do.
Thank you for your support of Akron Children's mission and dedication to improving the health of the children in our community.
I’m fundraising as part of the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay. Funds raised through my online fundraising page will assist patients and their families at Akron Children’s Hospital.
