Video Guidelines

As you know we are virtual this year. We have some guidelines to follow when recording your performance. View a sample in the video box below. You can also go to “Past Performances” or “YouTube” for many great performances and for ideas of what you may want to do.

  • Treat this as a recital. Make it professional!

  • Audience applause and a bow at the end.

  • Avoid any unnecessary background noise and distractions.

  • Nice casual dress.

  • You may announce each piece ahead of time and/or show it on your poster, if you’ve done one.

  • Make sure the lighting is correct. You don’t want the camera facing the light; you do want the light behind the camera. You don’t want reflections.

  • Pieces should be played well, but no need to memorize. No holiday music. Ensemble pieces are always encouraged and are crowd favorites.

  • There is not a time limit, per se, but we ask that you keep it under 30 minutes because of the video file size. All pieces should be on one video file. For questions please check with your teacher or contact us at piano-a-thon@roadrunner.com

Video Upload Instructions

  • Performers may upload their video at any time at the Drop Box location provided by your teacher. Please Label your video as follows: Teacher last name, Student name.

  • In addition, for those performers under 18, a parental consent form must be included along with it. Videos will not be reviewed nor posted unless the parental consent form is provided. Once you have uploaded your video, you may not do so again.

  • Your video will be then reviewed and approved by the Piano-a-thon committee.

  • Once approved it will be posted on the Piano-a-thon YouTube Channel. You can obtain your link once posted by hitting the share button underneath your video. Use this to send out with your emails to solicit donations. If you have registered, the link to your fund-raising page will also be included on your video, so anyone viewing it can go directly to your page.
