Children's Up Close takes community leaders behind the scenes

Twenty community leaders spent a recent morning shadowing doctors and medical staff as part of Akron Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Up Close event. The participants were in various departments throughout the hospital and went on rounds, observing surgery and routine checkups among other things.

Aflac recently presented Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley with special, interactive Aflac ducks for pediatric cancer patients. The ducks can be a companion during treatment, and help patients share how they are feeling. Read more →

As a Children’s Champion runner, Tim Campbell is raising money for Akron Children’s while he trains for the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay. He’s raising money in honor of his twin children who spent time in the hospital’s NICU and will turn 28 the day of the marathon. Read more →

“Best Doctors in America” by Best Doctors Inc. named 76 Akron Children’s physicians across 29 medical specialties to its list for 2019-2020. Only 5 percent of doctors across the country receive the honor each year, and the acknowledgement is based on peer recognition of clinical excellence. Read more →
